Let Us Overcome Discouragement
2 Sam 23:1-3, 8 & 11, Shammah - one of the mighty men mentioned by David; vrs 10-11) God honored Shammah's solitary stand with a great victory; This is not unlike Israel today; Shammah's name = to face discouragement; His father Agee's name means fugitive. Joshua 1:9, tells us to be "strorg and of a good courage". Two friends Webster and Bennet; when encouraged by Bennet, Webster went on to pen the hymn "Sweet Byb & Bye". What shall seperate us, Rom 8:35; Zech 1:3; Naham 1:7; Ps 50:15; Ps 55:22; 1 Pet 5:7; Is 43:2; Is 45:2; Ps 20:7; Ps 16:8; Ps 34:6-7; Is 26:3-4.
