Throughout my years of studying the Bible, I have learned that the Lord often emphasizes important truths for his people by the number of times a word, phrase or truth is referenced in the Bible. It is my hope that this short pamphlet will share an amazing truth about an end-time event.
This study begins by understanding that the Jewish nation, Israel, is named over 2,500 times in the King James Bible. Scholars realize that this nation is very much involved in God’s purposes for this earth. Revelation 7:1-4 reveals that in this end-time hour, a special event will occur. The MOST HIGH God will raise up 144,000 servants (twelve thousand from each of the twelve tribes) to bring to pass an amazing truth.
“And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2) And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with an loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3) Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servant so four God in their foreheads. 4 ) And I heard the number of them which we resealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel” (Revelation 7:1-4).
The Bible makes it abundantly clear in Isaiah 49:6 that Israel’s latter-day, continuing resto ration will result in the population’s division amongst the twelve tribes. ”And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.” Revelation 14:1 makes it distinctly clear the 144,000 will have the name of God the Father sealed in their foreheads. That sacred name is Jehovah. ”And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.”
An awareness and understanding regarding the period when the truths of which we speak will occur is very important. Recognized biblical scholars speak of a seven-year tribulation period directly preceding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ back to this earth. We know that there will be two periods of three and one-half years each. The last or final three and one-half year period will involve great tribulation. Jeremiah 30:7 says, ”Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.” The New Testament writer Matthew agrees. In Matthew 24:21-22, he says there shall be great tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world, nor ever shall be. Wow! This scripture depicts with clarity the significance of this end-time truth. In conclusion, he tells us, unless those days should be shortened by God, no flesh would survive.
This world will experience the evil, brutal works of the Assyrian Anti-Christ. He will en deavor to put his mark on all members of soci ety. The prophet Joel describes this hour as a time of gloominess and thick darkness as writ ten in Joel 2:2, ”A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.” Yet, he adds it will be the hour God raises up a great people, a strong people, there hath never been the like. Welcome the 144,000, bringing to pass the greatest harvest of souls this world has seen.
Revelation 7:9 says, ”After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.” This verse directly follows God’s call to raise up the 144,000. The writer John sees a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations and kindreds, and people and tongues. They stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes and palms in their hands. They cried with a loud voice saying, “SALVATION unto our God, which sitteth upon the throne and unto the LAMB.”
Later in Revelation 7:14, it is revealed that these people are they which came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ”And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
The size and success of this worldwide, evangelistic harvest of souls, led by the 144,000, is quite stunning. We can greatly rejoice that this large, redeemed host has experienced by faith, true Bible salvation. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Our God’s powerful blessing upon the ministry of his Jewish servants is a fruit of Bible truth. God’s divine purpose calls for Israel to be a spiritual light to the nations.
In conclusion, we know that the 144,000 are a great and strong spiritual people ready to go forth for the Lord. We recognize that an army going forth to war needs a qualified leader. I am often awestruck by the depth and detail of God’s Word. He does not leave details to chance. Scripture says that God will have their leader ready at just the right time. Malachi 4:5-6 says, “Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
Elijah was a colorful, rugged and resilient prophet used of God to deliver Israel out of Baal worship. The Bible tells us that he was caught up to Heaven prior to experiencing physical death. He will be back. His earthly ministry isn’t finished. He will encourage the Jewish nation in their difficult, great tribulation hour ahead. The name Elijah means Jehovah is God. This name is a seal in the foreheads of the 144,000. They could not ask for a better leader.
On A Personal Note …
It is amazing to me that the MOST HIGH GOD has chosen this difficult, coming hour as that time when the 144,000 Jewish servants will go forth worldwide reaping the greatest harvest of redeemed souls this world has ever previously seen. What a joy it will be for believers in heaven to hear the 144,000 singing their special song. Revelation 14:1-3 says, “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred and forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads. 2) And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3) And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.”
